now i've realized the plan is a scam
and i'm stuck at the bottom with nothing to eat
so i try with my feet to catch me a clam or two
i've been through the whole ocean floor and i'm done
i'm all out of rum and i'm starting to run
don't bother to look back now i'm on the amtrack
to catch a westbound train
i think if i leave this will all go away
so i try to start, again and again
it all stays the same, you were right about one thing that night when you said
not a thing will change

i'll rebuild my walls and hope they don't fall
i'll try again and again
if i leave right now i'll never come back to this town

now i'm off the hook again
i can't be reeled in if we're oceans apart
so i stray
i strive to catch the tide and hitch a ride
before i decide that i'm wrong
prolong the obvious
i can't get a kiss this is hit or miss
and i'm gone again
i'll never come back
until next month only then i'll unpack
for a day, i'm on my way again
can't seem to find myself anywhere else so i go
again and again and again and again and again

i'll make my home a waterfall
and hope i don't fall for anyone else
then i'll build a fortress in the sky
with hidden ladders that'll never be found
i'll build a castle out of stone
deep in the forest, i'll call it my home as well
all these places that i call home
are not worth the bother when i've no one to share them with

so i strap on my bags and head up to the north
i'll find me a boat and i'll be on my way
to cross an ocean's breadth
time and again until there's nothing left of me
it's snugger with me than it is on the sea you said as i left
and i'll never look back

the only one that's here for me
will stare at me for hours on end
until i see that i was wrong
there was nothing to worry about all along
but now i've found myself oceans away
from all i hold dear and i'm worried i'll stay far away
i really don't care
it doesn't make sense for me to stay anywhere anyways
so i stray
